VALUES

Hello! I have found myself spending a lot of time these past few years meditating on what really makes me happy, why I chose this path, and what I actually value about the art I create.

I find the greatest joy when I am creating in the natural world with children, painting and design in conjunction with plays, new work, work that inspires community engagement. I love how art can push the boundaries of the way a community interacts with itself and views the stories we can tell. I love process and collaborating with people who inspire each other. I dream to build work all around the country that treats young artists as equals to adult artists, fosters a widened perspective, and provokes questions rather than provides answers.

I also have a growing presence and engagement with agriculture and the climate, and deep fascination with technology/science in conjunction with theatre. I spent a few years of working and living on a farm with incredible climate activists and people close to the land. This has synthesized into a passion for art and theatre that explores growth and behavioral patterns in nature as a reflection of patterns in human self and society, and many questions as to how to shift the industry towards less wasteful and more community-engaged production practices.

I think that theater is a synthesis of all other aspects of art-making, which gives it unique power and impact, and provides a strong platform for challenging the way people think. I love art that makes people just uncomfortable enough to question something about the way they are relating to the world or themselves. To me, even more important than this impact on audiences, is the impact on the makers and collaborators. The process of creating something will always be far more important to me than whatever is created - the work is important, yes, but never at the cost of human connection. If there is one I have learned as I have gotten older, it is that community is everything! I hope to always prioritize relating to myself, my work, and my peers with joy.

Please reach out if you’d like to connect/collaborate! :)
